30.04.23 Paul McMinimy - The One Essential: Follow Jesus – The Surprising Followers of Jesus

Pastor Paul is looking today at one of the most unlikely followers of Jesus: Matthew. The reading is taken from Matthew 9:9-13. Matthew was a tax collector…he is a great example of the surprising followers of Jesus. Jesus shared a meal with Matthew; this was surprising to the Pharisees. As Jesus said to the Pharisees: “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do”. We are all sick, in all different ways. What we need is God’s merci. Merci from God is underserved, but we desperately need it. Some questions to consider this week: Who are the sinners around you? What is the state of your heart?
