It's something that shocked Dr Chanthujan Chandrakumar, who has led a team of Massey University researchers to create a system that is a groundbreaking step toward earthquake preparedness. He speaks to Jesse about creating the Earthquake Early Warning System, which is the first real-time trial of a community-based EEWS in New Zealand.
